Now I know Final Fantasy VII is the favorite of the series. I will admit it was fun. But, for me anyways, Final Fantasy VIII was more enjoyable. I'm replaying it for the first time in about eight years and I'm experiencing some extreme nostalgia. Remembering waiting to get the hell out of school so I can continue the fantasy. Until the reality of homework hit me.
I can't pinpoint what draws me into the game so intensely. I play newer rpg's like, Mass Effect, Dragon Age and The Elder Scrolls series all of which are absolutely amazing games, but the overall feel of Final Fantasy VIII seems to beat them.
I'm hoping the next Final Fantasy will be a lot better than thirteen. I really couldn't get into the newest one. For lack of a better word: It sucked. One thing I didn't like about VIII was playing those alternate characters. Laguna and all that jazz. It was interesting, but I always found myself speeding through those segments.
Well, I hear my psp calling me. Time to get back to it. Great game. Give it a shot if the opportunity ever presents itself.
It has been a long time since I've last played 8, I should load it up tonight and play!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the Final Fantasy series and the 8 was not that bad, but one of my least favorite, I don't like the leveling system and the fact you have to don't use your magic to max out their effect.
ReplyDeletereally great game, one of my favs

I've never played FF, but I know what you mean when you say you enjoy playing older games better than some newer ones. Last week I played Gauntlet Legends (nintendo 64, doesn't get much older haha) for the first time in YEARS and it was still as awesome as I remembered!
ReplyDeleteI've never played any FF games, but like Marieke, playing older games are just amazing. After playing all the cut-scene, dialogged, easy games of today- you go back to when games didn;t have tutorials or when that final boss was hard and you had to think of how to kill it instead of shooting it till it's health hit 0
ReplyDeleteI haven't played any Final Fantasy games either! I have one on the Nintendo Wii, and I even downloaded one on my iphone :P but haven't tried it out yet!
ReplyDeleteI honestly havn't been able to get into a FF game since FFX. People bashed it and so forth, but it was the last FF that i've actually enjoyed. I played 12 for a solid 2-3 hours before just giving up, and 13, i literally got past the opening mission and said F-This and havn't touched it sense. I mean, 12 is dead to me, but i think i may pick up 13 again.
ReplyDeleteEither way, it seems that the charm from the psx to the ps2.
